Charles Spurgeon stated it plainly: "We have come to a turning-point in the road. If we turn to the right, mayhap our children and our children's children will go that way; but if we turn to the left, generations yet unborn will curse our names for having been unfaithful to God and to His Word."

I didn't say it. Someone who knew the Truth before me said it.

Has Christianity come to a turning-point again?

What think you? Are we too far past the turning point?

Is all well and fine? Couldn't be better?

Rusty

Charles Spurgeon's writings are elegant and timeless with hardly a parallel however there has come many 'turn points' in history of the church universal. Luther saw one, Knox ,Westley, Calvin and Toxer and rued his day. This is our 'day' and some long for a different(easier more comfortable)day; such is life. Live in it not ruled by it.

I think life goes up and down, and Western Civilization is a blip on the world history calendar with freedom and wealth possible to the masses because of a faith background.

However, there have been believers in God since Abraham, and we are standing like the heroine of "Hinds Feet In High Places" in a line of believers that stretches behind us and probably in front of us. It is for us to thank God for His grace and mercy and live our lives today in a fashion to please our Creator.

Trite but true: I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future.

And I think Charles Spurgeon was one awesome dude! I love reading his stuff!

I was watching a program last night... this reporter spent 30 days in jail to give a first-hand account of the experience. He met and befriended several men while there. Two of them were serving short sentences mainly for drug usage and minor offenses. They were pretty certain they would not end up back there. At the end of the show it was reported that around two weeks after their release, they were back in jail.

We all have turning points. The greatest turning point in any life is salvation. It not only changes where our souls will end up but how we live our lives. These men ended up back in jail because there was nothing deeper their flesh to guide them.

One Christian life can make a great difference in the lives of many. If there be a turning point in Christianity as a whole, it would be the failure of many parents to embrace it the way our parents use to.
