Ezri, thanks for the sun glasses. They were a help.

The color you used in your post above (#1551) isn't too bad. It's not as retna burning as the pink in #1535.

Darryl (Walker) {hey you} (O' great leader of our lukewarm whiners thread**),

Well, my dear ol' momma always said when you are good at something....

So I use my skills to bless others every chance I get... and blame others for it when I can.

Paul,

I never thought about my pink leaving a lasting impression on folks retinas! LOL! gives a whole new meaning to unforgettable don't it! AND as promised this post is in your chosen shade of PINK though it is not exactly the shade my children have come to call "ezri pink" it will do for now.

Probably because the person in charge of the children's music ministry thinks the children look so cute doing them.

We have two children's choirs at our church, one for 3rd - 6th graders and the other for K - 2nd graders. Both programs are run by separate people.

My two sons were both in a musical program at our church last Sunday. My older son, in 5th grade, performed with the older kids during our service. Their performance substituted for our normal worship music time. The program was actually pretty good.

My younger son, in 1st grade, performed in the evening with the younger children. There program was a little lame. The program was King of the Jungle (Jesus being the King). The director asked that the kids show up in an animal costume (homemade of course). It was interesting to see how the costumes varied. Some kids had costumes that someone (mom) put a lot of thought and time into. Others looked like someone (dad) threw it together as they headed out the door. It was . . . cute.

Well, with our church, the kids Easter stuff has to be just as dorky as the Christmas stuff so we can torture them with it later in life

I have a good whiner!

Why couldn't God have created a kinder gentler lucifer? Of course we know that God knew that satan would try to steal the show so why didn't He just send Him to Salt Lake and fix it where he couldn't get out?

i used to complain that i didnt get solos. i got a solo last week and don't want to do it.

lol

so now my specific whine is 'i want to solo on the song IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII LIKE'

***************************************************************************

i just realized a few days ago how much i really whine at church. i had gone a long time not whining to anyone and when i did, it felt so shamely!

i think whining is probably a bad way of doing something good: getting things off our chest. theres always talk that people should express themselves because holding in things (including stress) can make us sick, blah blah blah.

i just feel glad that i'm not a lone in my whining efforts.

i also think that whiners get the job done: we're bold enough to say something and stand up for whats right (when the whining is about spiritual or unethical wrongs lol) and be bold in Christ.

otherwise - why would we have this mechanism? God isn't gonna turn it off - he'll help us learn how to use it better. :D

someone may have already said all i just said in the past 56 pages, which i'll read another day lol; i'm only up to page 6!!!) and may come in whining that i repeated another post.

lol

i love you guys. some of the most real christians on the net yet!

back to our regularly scheduled whining.

*************************************************************************

if i come back and posted 10 different posts about 10 different whines, will anyone whine that i'm posting too much? i'll try and read all the pages first to make sure i'm not repeating whines.

is anyone making a list of all the whines? that sounds like fun: top 100 things christians complain about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An all inclusive whine:

Several people have a medical problem referred to as "Senses Seizures" which are aggrevated by colors, lights, noise, heat, etc. Nice to see simple colouring.

Loud music has become the norm at churches and has driven myself and many in my age group to enjoy church at home rather than attending a traditional congregation. (more often than not I listen to Yongi Chou on the internet).

Churches have become people pleasers rather than God pleasers. Do what we can to keep the congregation happy or they may go elsewhere. We must have our loud music and fellowship time. Don't invite people up for prayer as it may do irrepairable damage to their faith should the prayer not be answered as prayed for (what if it is?)

The salvation message is never given at any place I have attended since about 1980 (except on three specific occasions where I heard it at Catholic Churches - I am Pentacostal and that is the main churches of my attendance)

Pastors drive people away by continually asking for more money. Many of us can give our 10 per cent and more but it is a burden that drives the young family away and they are the ones that need the suppoort of the congregation the most.

When I was young, we geared our lives to be closer to God. Why participate in activities that were not spiritually beneficial? Now it appears we do not want to be to spiritual as it may be politicly incorrect.

And for the record: this is an aged whine and maybe that is why the whine. I miss the good old days. God help us.

purty good whine jens!

I'd whine that I like the more upbeat praise music and bright colors and my church has neither-

but alas I have a skirt to sew. or rather I have a skirt to design and tell my 16yo how to sew. my shoulder is busted up and I am incapable of sewing at present.

Really?!?! The Catholic Church preaches the salvation message?!? They must have changed in the last 30 years. I was raised in the Catholic Church in the late 60s to mid 70s. It wasn't until my dad died and I started attending my mom's Presbyterian Church that I heard the message of salvation. Up until then what I heard was that being Catholic, and doing works, is what will get me into heaven.

It is true that some churches have turned away from preaching the Gospel message. Instead, they preach a "feal good" message that doesn't offend anyone. There are still churches out there that are true to the Gospel and preach the life-giving message of salvation through faith in Christ. Look around and you will find one. My family and I attend one.

Paul

Paul

Good to hear you have a positive Church.

I hit on a Catholic Franciscan Friary in Winnipeg in Canada where I could spend a quiet lunch break on occassion. Over a period of about 10 years, the Franciscan speaker twice gave the gospel message during the lunchtime mass (the gospel message was a rare event).

I now live in Alberta Canada and started visiting the Catholic Church as it is the only one where you can visit at any time without problems. Two weeks ago the speaker said he was straying away from what was given and went into what the church was for and included the gospel message. They inducted two new members and he used this as the lead in - explaining they accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, etc. It was a surprise.

For my first years as a Pentacostal, we had evangelical services every Sunday evening and once a month on Sunday morning where we were encouraged to bring non-committed people. The people that accepted the alter call were many that I knew and who were to embarassed to show their face in the Church because of sin in their lives.

Personally, I walked by there one Sunday morning with my two year old who wanted to go for a walk. He asked if we could go in. I was greasy and dirty from working on a car, unshaven, and said I needed a suit on. This incredible man wearing a suit which was very well kept offered me his hand and said we were welcome. Thus was the atmosphere I miss and God willing will see again. The Pastor retired in 1981 and it has never been the same.

God bless you and all prayers are appreciated

for Leanne1966

May I borrow you one of the Great Canadian Whines of confusion (yes, I am Canadian - originally from the great Canadian Ice Box know as Winnipeg and now near the Rockie mountains in Alberta)

The Whine you may have (and please - this is meant with humor only)

"Plant more trees, it helps keep the heat in and will warm the country"; "Plant more trees as they feed on carbon dioxide and will stop global warming"; and the best "I want to move to a warmer climate"

Bless you In Jesus name

You didn't have my answer in the choices, so I said hunky-dory.

My answer would be the opposite of "They will let anyone sing specials." At my church, they never LET anyone sing specials! The same worship combo does ALL the music (except in the traditional-music worship service, which I don't attend). It's so BORING to hear the same music and same style week after week.

Also, the stairs to where my Sunday School class meets are so steep, I keep having visions of myself pitching head-first down the stairs!

Also, people keep moving away and our Small Group has pretty much ground to a halt.

Anyway, I know I'll never attend a perfect church... because if I'm there, it certainly can't be perfect!
