Preacher preaches at you??? How about a preacher that doesn't- since you are a part of a demographic that isn't 'acceptable'... puke !!!!!

And I am glad a few of you have allowed yourselves to return to the level of mere mortals

I whine to my best friend. That keeps me from whinning to my hubby after he has had a full day at work. It is so wonderful to have someone to just let off steam and then let it be done.

whine, whine, whine, whine, whine.

Now that that's over with,

Oh, the luxury of a day off from work!

Woohoo!

I'm going back to bed, to luxuriate in my featherbed, to lie there and not care whether or not I do fall back to sleep and to not care whether or not I get up by noon!

YESSSSS!

Okay so I killed the thread with pretty flowers.

WHINE-

How many times must one hear the "sermon" about the Lords Prayer being an index prayer or a pattern for our prayer life before they die? Must one hear it 3 times every 2 years in order for it to sink in?

WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS TO ME!?!?!

FYI- it is not the same person giving the talks.
The last 18 months:

*the pastor has done it-
*a deacon standing in his stead on a Wednesday night has done it-(wasn't present when the pastor did it)
*tonight my Honey will do it-(wasn't present when the other deacon did it)

Yeah, I have told him it will be #3 in the last 2 years. I have proof it will be the 3rd time(Sermon Notes- I am a compulsive note taker) he feels lead to do it anyway.

Please pray I don't sleep through it and if I have to sit through it that someone will show up that NEEDS to hear it......

Yeah like the preacher who kept preaching the same sermon every Sunday and finally someone asks why and the preacher said when the congregation gets it, I'll preach a new one.

Okay - I hate to do it, but I have to say that the thing that disappoints me most is the lack of fellowship and comaraderie with other men in the church.

Most guys seem far too macho to even deign to hug another man, and to talk about anything deeper than the local pro ball teams or auto mechanics or the career (when it's going well) seems strictly verboten.

The bible tells not to forsake fellowship one with another and to share one another's burdens, but frankly, the men in my church seem to have forgotten how to do that.

He did take a different angle on it than the pastor and the other deacon had. (they did the exact same things! I think they got their notes from the same place!) He read it from 4 different translations and a paraphrase and then talked about why we should pray- not how... *wipes brow*

Thing is I know he is gonna corner me and say How did I do? how do you think the folks liked it? and so on. I have always tried to be 100% honest with him when he asks this question. I have never had to tell him someone slept through it. I was seriously worried that I'd have to cover for some brother who tucked it in when he announced the focus passage. I didn't have to. LOL! what he did was he threw a "Paraphrase" in the middle of a couple of other translations. That paraphrase woke everyone up. LOL!

We did have a long prayer and praise time- he actually called the music minister up and asked him if he could lead us in a few praise songs . We don't normally sing on Wednesday nights as the pianist is the Missions friends teacher. It went much better than I thought it would.

What I learned-AGAIN- God is in control and his word never returns empty... even if the congregation is hearing it for the 3rd time in 18 months.

Well if the flowers don't kill it your pink font surely will...(kidding!!)

Keep listening, I'm sure there's an underlying message in the Lord's prayer about using pink font that you haven't gotten yet.

My Pink??? KILL a THREAD?!?!?!

Never.... LOL! been using it since 1999 (Walker as my witness- and he is still alive) no one has died yet. Least no one has found anyone that has died from it yet. Then there was that one woman in Italy that they found mummified but I dunno if she was a crosswalk member so the nay-sayers cannot prove a thing. If i re-read that paraphrase I might could get something about the pink being connected with the pharisees on the street corners but NAH, that'd be stretching something the paraphrase already has stretched REALLY THIN!

1999? That's a long time! It's apparent that you've been given over to a reprobate mind to 'do what ought not to be done'. I'd pray for you but there's no hope for a reprobate mind now is there?

(How do I look in this font? Don't lie, just tell me the truth...unless it makes my butt look too big...)

Spongy,

My mind has been described as warped, twisted, and missing more than a few marbles(again, I have Walker as witness) but I don't think it has ever been labeled as reprobate. Just another to add to the long long list.

as for the font and your butt... I shall simply avert my eyes and live another day. This is what my husband does when I ask silly questions about body parts.

peole in my church are too friendly. If I wanted to talk, I'd phone them. And there is this ten min 'handshake' time in the middle of the service where people run over and wake me and yak, yak, yak.

Do you attend my church? HOW TO KNOW... if you have slept through the going over of the Lords Prayer as a Pattern for prayer 3 times in the last 18 months you are one of the fellows I wake up during the 10 minute handshaking time. Also- I can prove it from my stand point... You sit 3rd pew from the back organ side on the end near the stained glass windows- you put a hymnal over the AC vent and don't snore(too loudly anyway cause I cannot hear you from my 2nd from front pew organ side).

I knew I knew you!
