Hi Trishy. Can I have an apricot smoothie when you've got a spare moment, please? How are you today?

Didn't take that pic. I get them from an astronomy website. They have a different one every day, some taken on Mauna Kea, and I keep the ones I like on my HD. It's kinda neat that I can upload avatars on this new "Crosswalk". astropix Weeks been going great, how you stay been? Used to love to eat mango with "bug juice". Know what I'm talkin' about, or is that a neighbor island thing? Small kid time we used to eat plenty guava and starfruit and catch opae in the stream near out house.

Hi Trishy. I've never heard of bug juice before. Never heard of shoyu, and I don't like vinegar, so I think I'm safe. Never heard of opae either. You catch it in your ouThouse? Um, I think I'll pass on that too. If it's fish, I'll still pass on it. I'm allergic to the stuff.

LOL @ cherish405 Opae is fresh water shrimp you can catch in a stream. Shoyu is an oriental seasoning made from soy beans. Makes things kinda salty like.... Here in Hawaii, fish and seafood and a BIG part of our diets. We like our fish raw (some of them anyway) and shellfish from the rocks and algae (or limu). When I was younger, we used to go to the beach and try to pry the opihi (shellfish) off the rocks, and eat them right on the spot, raw. Are you near the sea in Austrailia? I'm sure you can tell us stories about eating 'roo and stuff, huh?

The combo of shoyu, vinegar (usually rice vinegar), and sugar is popular with mangoes here. Mangoes have to be a little underripe, but not too green. It's usually made homemade and the bug juice is like a marinade. Chill it up and just enjoy! Well, if you don't like vinegar, let me see what else I have on the island... Goes into the kitchen and fumbles. Oh here! How about some shaved ice (like a snow cone but the ice is finer). What flavor would you like? Strawberry? Lime? How about some condensed milk over it? How have you been feeling Trish?

So, you don't like "linguisa"? It's an acquired taste, for sure. Is Sarah the other participant in your chat room with Aimee? I will be praying. Speaking of Aimee, I invited her over to check this out, but she's heading into finals, and will maybe have time later on.

Trishy, I will pray for Sarah. Funny, I just replied to your post in my thread asking if you had a prayer request. Could I ask you for a prayer too? My mother needs some Christian women friends. She just needs some women to keep her accountable. Thanks! I just love Hawaiian fresh pineapple. The storebought ones just are not as tasty. Could I pick up a few while I am here? May others see Christ in you today, Lori

Hi Trishy! Oh my! I just popped in and it looks like we're cooking - but not a thing I want to eat! Well, that's the trouble, I guess - you're eating raw fish! RAW?? Just the thought of it makes my tummy squeamish. Even if the critter is dead and it's nicely sliced so all you can see is a slice of meat, not recognizable parts - it's still RAW! I have an aversion to raw meat. Can you tell??? :) BTW - I don't eat sausage, either. Now - about those fresh fruits...I'll take a least one of each...I'll take that with a beautiful ocean entree and sunshine on the side with some of that green/white iced tea you brewed earlier.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((PRUNED))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Hi! You made it! I'm so happy you came. I hope you come by regularly. Awe c'mon! Raw fish is really not that bad. I guess because when you were born and raised in Hawaii, it's pretty much the norm here. You got to try it as a Poke. Poke? What's that you wonder? Cube raw fish like tuna, add soy sauce, green onions, seseme seed oil, something acidic like lemon juice and dig in! There are many varieties of poke but I like that one a lot. Randy, back me up on this one will ya? Well, I tried LOL. That longista sausage was just the pits. I like other sausages but that one was strange! Anyhoo, how have you been pruned?

OK - I'll make you a deal. IF I'm ever in Hawaii, I'll do as Hawaiiian's do and eat your raw fish. I'm up and ready for coffee. What's for breakfast in Hawaiia? Please pray for me today - I'm taking my correspondence course test today. It's open book, but last time my technology didn't work very well. Have a good day - when the sun comes up over there! :)

Hi everybody. Trishy, I'm starting to feel a bit better. I'm certainly better than I was this time last week. Just about ended myself in hospital. Not this week though. Sounds like I can't eat a lot of the Hawaiian cuisine. Fish and seafood don't go well with me. Like I said, I'm allergic to the stuff. I know of some friends who I know would love the soy and mango sauce though. I have tried banana bread that's been cooked wrapped up in leaves under the ground though. Yum! I haven't had it in years. Nope, can't say I've ever eaten roo or emu. Some restaurants do have that on their menus, but I'm not very adventurous. I hear they taste very gamey, which doesn't appeal to me. They tend to be too strongly flavoured for me. Other than small amounts of pork and chicken, my body can't tolerate meats. I think my body would quite happily be vegetarian if I let it, but I'd miss some of the tastes. Have you all got plans for the weekend?
