Ty both for the responses. I am trying to figure out my weekends. I tend to have trouble functioning on the weekends. I do pretty good at work through the week and am immensely grateful for my job. I take three different psy meds and they seem to work ok.. but on the weekends, it seems like all i do is sleep. I dunno if it cuz i am just tired from working all week or if due to lack of structure. I know i should join a church in the area, but the idea of having to dress up more than i do to work leaves me hesitant. I love God with all I have and am. Maybe this is the right spot to share my testimony, I am not sure as I am still getting used to the site. Annie is a sheltie and is quite beautiful. And she is a part of my testimony... the last part. I am trying to do for her what i failed to do for my beautiful Goldie who was a Collie the last year of her life. Even though I had been saved when i was young,, something happened that caused my view of God to shatter. Goldies death was the beginning of my redemption. And i keep her name as rememberance of how miserable my life was. how i failed her that last year, to remind me not to go back and to remind me of Gods awesome love for me.... I wish u all much abiding peace... Goldie

You know, there are some churches that aren't worried if you turn up in jeans and tshirt... I believe that no church should be more worried about what a person is wearing than what is going on in a person's heart but tradition dies hard.

Thank you for sharing about Goldie.

Hi you guys. Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. I have just had my own stuff going on and didn't want to post much of it here. Anyway, I am back to marital problems. My husband did something that made me totally not trust him, but the problem is that this is not the first time and I am still trying to learn how to trust him again from that time. I know I am supposed to be able to forgive him, but I just can't seem to let this one go. I don't want to divorce him, but at the same time, I don't know how I can live with somebody and give myself to somebody that I have absolutely no trust in whatsoever. Anyway, something happened this morning with him, and he got caught. But the kicker is that yesterday, we put our house up on the market and put in an offer on a different house, have alot to do around here, and today is my daughters 4 birthday. I am not really in a celebrating mood. All my husband seemed to care about is "explaining" himself. I just don't know if I want anymore explinations. So you know you have a really good day do some major things like buy houses and stuff, then this. Now I am not even sure we should be looking at houses together. Anyway, not that it matters much, but I just wanted to check in.

My meds are making me groggy.

I got turned down a second time for disability.

My counselor and my pdoc both think that in a few weeks, after SSI has read everything they have to say, that disability will be no problem for me.

So, things are OK.

I am glad you have a positive outlook. That is good. Hopefully everything with your SSI will move along quickly. If you keep applying, you will eventually get it plus all of the back pay.

That's what I've heard. Unfortunately, I'm not loaded with patience in that area. I can't say that I have a positive outlook, I just don't have a negative outlook today. Kinda neutral, KWIM? Yesterday, I had a negative outlook.

If it drags along too much or starts to annoy, consider writing your Congresspeople or hiring an attorney - either can help put pressure to get your case moving if you need it sped up due to hardship. Though with the SSA, "sped up" can be a bit of a misnomer...

The problem with an attorney is the money it would cost.

I love Chonda Pierce and have been looking for some of her CDs and/or DVDs. (I met her just before she hit it big and she was so sweet!)

I came across these two clips where she talks about depression.

Part 1

Part 2

It's a total of about 15-20 minutes, but worth it.

That's true, they're expensive but if it does become necessary most work on contingency (I had to do it). But you could still try writing your Congressional Reps - that's just the cost of postage.

hi there Golden,

Welcome again to CW! (let's get your number of posts up by chatting, then you can get your pic up there where it belongs!)

I was wondering if you've ever thought of looking for a local church by using the internet - that way, if you found one you thought might be suitable, you could email them beforehand and ask about their dress code.

I recently had a couple of events in my life that I'm afraid have me headed for a major problem. I am bi-polar(bi-polar 1) and people are telling me I talk faster. I'm not sleeping much, either. In April, my sister had a baby and 3 weeks later my Mom died. I am taking my Lithium Carbonate and also went to see my psychiatrist. I don't want to go to the hospital but I feel like I'm going full-blown manic. It has been over a year since my last spell. Have any of you had a spell after a major life event? If so, what did you do. If it is hard to follow what I'm writing it's probably because I've been up all night. Sorry.

Hi Grick. Don't apologise, there is no need. 'Life events' can cause our moods to change. Just because you are manic doesn't mean you need to go into hospital ~ but I do think that you need to see your psychiatrist again soon (not sure when you last saw him/her), especially if they don't know what's going on. They may want to keep a closer eye on you (ie more frequent appointments) or check your lithium levels. Please speak with your psychiatrist about this soon.

Grick, Agapetos gave wonderful advice. And yeah, life events are notorious for causing mood shifts or even episodes so keep an eye on things or have someone you trust do so - and stay in contact with your pdoc.

I'm surprised that last post of mine made sense. I'd just gotten home from an ER trip due to a bad migraine. On the bright side, I was a bit med-loopy but migraine free! Today I'm seeing the clinic pdoc (again) about my gp's recurrent insistence that my problem with fevers and joint pain is "a physical manifestation of stress and depression" and that "nothing is really wrong". Odd, why do pain meds - and particularly NSAIDS help? And why hasn't my antidepressant helped at all? Then I'm filing a complaint about the GP because this isn't the first time this has gotten this far - and last time the pdoc gave a lecture on how even patients with mental illnesses need to have pain diagnosed and treated and about how not only can depression cause pain but pain can cause depression. Plus he keeps telling me to take tylenol when I've told him enough times it ought to be in my records that I can't take tylenol with any regularity (more than say a dose a week) because I get nasty rebound headaches just about guaranteed. This is what I'll be up to this morning...

Hi Grick and welcome to the thread!

I have found that spells "up" or "down" are normal after major events in our lives. I would definitely seek the help of a professional. When I'm having a hard time getting my thoughts to stop racing, I find that journaling the old fashioned way (handwritten with a pen and paper) helps me a lot.

I just saw my psychiatrist Friday. My latest Lithium levels were in the desired range also. I just hope I don't do something nutty like I did last time. Last time I went for a ride and when I finally decided to go home I had gone from Richmond, Va. to Knoxville, Tenn. On another occasion I was riding down the highway and pulled into an auto dealership and bought a new car. Once a cycle like this starts it usually just gets worse and worse. Last time they were able to bring me back to normal with Zyprexa

I also am on the waiting list for a liver transplant.

I'm really struggling with my meds making me sleepy. I even had the drs. permission to cut the dose in half and they are still wiping me out.

I'd keep telling my doctor. There are usually several options available for most conditions. I had a problem with a med I was taking for my depressive spells and it took a couple of different meds before one actually worked without any side effects.
