Thank you for the offer, but I don't feel led to post any questions here. Honestly, the overall tone of this thread makes me a little uncomfortable. In my humble opinion, direct quotations from her books or tapes that are in contradiction to the Bible are a great deal more effective than posting pictures of her house and belongings and criticizing the way she chooses to dress.

Personally, I find rational, objective arguments much more reliable and convincing than ones laced with sarcasm, condescension, and hostility.

Despite my reservations, I have read through the thread, and I will certainly take into consideration all the points that have been made. I specifically appreciate the posts that included the direct quotations. I doubt I will be posting in this thread again, but I want to say thanks to everyone for the discussion.

Hope you now know that a Christian ought not to adhere to her teachings.

I'm not sure of it's origin, but if you Google something like "Jesus went to hell", you will find many well known false teachers within the WoF cult (Meyer, Osteen, Copeland, Hagin) that subscribe to this doctrine.

They believe that Jesus' death on the cross was not sufficient and did not atone for our sins. Rather, he had to decend to hell, fight the devil in some mythical battle, and then become the first "born again" man.

Some (Kenneth Copeland) have as far and blunt as to say that any human being with enough RHEMA (revelation knowledge) could have replaced Jesus.

I never heard of it before Joyce Meyers and others in the WoF. I read half of one book of hers and attended a conference where I just did not get the hype at all. It seemed all she really was focusing on was marketing her wares and some "preaching" going on. I just didn't get what all the hype was over her teaching after that. Granted I was never involved with any WOF Churches for more than a visit because something just wasn't right about them for me. The last time I attended or stepped foot in one was when some lady was naming and claiming that "There was no Hell" quite loudly while the preacher was preaching and he did not rebuke her or tell sit down and listen.

Interesting little tidbit on Mrs Meyer and her lack of faith in her own theology:

"Joyce Meyer, one of the newest Word of Faith teachers, developed breast cancer in 1989 and was cured through traditional cancer treatment. Meyer even admits in her teaching "Overcoming Adversity" that she chose to undergo traditional treatment rather than stand on the Word of Faith doctrine of claiming her healing."

This may help. Scroll down to the section titled "Jesus died spiritually"

I see that some people might envy her and/or dont believe her some are jalous couse of the money she makes with what she does out of the love and in honor for GOD, she spreads GODS LOVE all over the world and she diserves the money she earn and then seccond u people forget about all the good she does, im not talking about what she do with the money only but yea she doesnt keep it all for herself but she invest it for good purposes but aah THE DEVIL notice that shes doing great and shes all happy and so full of love and glory, so THE DEVIL has to spread hate and tell lies and blaim her for things she do NOT! its heartbreaking news for me, when i read everything that is bad towards Joyce meyer i feel deep inside of my heart a WORD that tells me to not listen to what u spread BAD about Joyce meyer allthought im not here to judge but all i speak is true and from the heart. may god bless you for i pray for you all, also to those who do bad.
she has been a great WORD of god, Manny thanks to our LORD GOD IN HEAVEN!

fanatical,

Welcome to the boards - please feel free to address the 37 pages of written, video, and audio documentation that has been presented about Joyce Meyer's teachings and claims.

The core issue is that her teachings do not pass the test of Scripture - unless you also believe Jesus did not atone for our sins on the cross. Because that one teaching alone objecates what the Word of God teaches and the very passion of Jesus on the cross.

Instead of listening to feelings, which ebb and flow, which are fickle.. as a Christian I recommend you pay heed to the Bible, the Word of God for all of mankind.

I look forward to your responses to how her questioned teachings are indeed biblically correct, thank you.

Just try raising objections in one of these "ministries" and watch the "love" and "kindness" pour forth.

Sounds invasive put that way. But it is just spin. A public person with a public "ministry" is stated by a secular real estate blogger to have sold a house to a family member for 7400 dollars that is on the market for 1.995 million and that's of no interest?

Here's what he said: "Joyce must not have very good business savvy to sell a house at such a discount."

LINK

That would be a large difference between perception and reality. Is this a reliable person to listen to, on which to base my life's decisions and relationship with God?

That's better than fear, hero-worship, and heresy.

My definitions aren't taking it any further than yours so perhaps they're both extreme, eh?

If you don't mind my saying so. No offense intended.
