Howdy, I'm just making my presence known to you all by stopping by to say hello, and to say that this is a great thread. My salvation was questioned just last week because I didn't agree with what another poster had written. Why does that happen? If you all don't agree with me, you are obviously not saved. Well, maybe I am only partially saved, so let's not rule out all of the possibilities here ok?? Anyway, i'm sure there will be more to say later, but for now, I'm just glad to be here.

Sweet Rhubarb pie... there be a plethora of questions here. I shall return henceforth. Meantime, avoiding those who wax toxic.

What a lovely place! This may be the first personal thread I actually frequent. Hmmm, now to catch up.... I like sushi (nigiri, as I've learned) but only realy have it when my dad picks up the vegetable sushi at Shop-Rite. Sad, I know. I never ate it before I was a vegetarian because, ew, it's icky raw fish! My cat used to be borderline fat, then she got really sick and skinny and you could see her ribs. She's putting some weight back on now, but she's nowhere near the fluffball she used to be. My dog, OTOH, is still on the tubby side. We've been working on it since we adopted her last year. She has some definition now instead of just being round, so we're definitely making progress. What else? My marriage contract was my vows and those have worked quite nicely. Rape is rape no matter when it happens, and did they take into account that the fact that it was someone she was supposed to be able to trust should have cancelled out (and then some) any sexual "personality" she may have developed? Posting...I often don't post in certain threads because I don't feel like taking the time and energy to explain myself so well as to not be misunderstood.

Hello. I may try to frequent this thread. I normally give up on personal threads because they get too long too fast...I can't keep up! Today I was basically told I was going straight to hell (and taking anyone who sees me with me) because of the type of exercise I do. I appreciated that . As to chocolate martinis, if that's what we're drinking here then this is the right thread for me! I also enjoy espresso martinis. The good thing about virtual martinis is that even pregnant women can drink them! Later I'll have a black & tan...I've been having a hankering for one of those lately.

I don't feel like taking the time and energy to explain myself so well as to not be misunderstood. Yep. And half the time, I feel like I'd need to preface with a laundry list of my credentials, to avoid my entire content being ignored for the sake of asking, "Are you a Christian?" Like when I posted about cops in Pa. actually having sexual intercourse with prostitutes, to "catch them." All I got was, "Are you a Christian?" Many years ago, because I though American History X was a glorification of neo-Nazis, I got called a racist. Having just spent a lot of time getting personal, and decrying the movie because I feared it was too gentle, and could actually be used as a recruiting tool, etc., and some chick starts babbling about how my racism wasn't Christian, and didn't belong on the forum... And I got PM'd over...I forget what, now, but I was told I needed to find another forum - oh, and the best one, I (and some others) were a "thorn in God's side." Here's what I'd often like to say: "Look, jerkface,..." Ok, that's all I want to say .

"I've also been told I made someone on this forum glad they were single. That was a banner day." Me too!! I think that was the same thread where we were thorns, no? Maybe I need a new avatar...

I tend to be pretty non-confrontational. But if someone tells me I'm not a good Christian because I do something they don't do (or don't do something they do) then I'll get in their face. I've toned down a lot since I've been here and recognized that there are just certain "camps" that are always going to say those things, and there's no use raising my hackles over it.

Hey, i know exactly the thread you are talking about, because if i remember correctly, i was a thorn as well. something about being a non virgin being equal to being 'yucky' and similar to a 'used t'shirt' or something like that....at least i think that was the thread. and, everyone else, i don't normally post in the personally for you threads either, but i'm glad this thread is here.

I love the Tick. I have the pilot for the show and a bunch of the cartoons. Very underrated. Some friends of mine went as Poodle Girl one year. "Hey Poodle Girl...whatcha got in that Poodle Gun for me?"

It's not on DVD for sale? I have a hard time downloading TV shows. Most of the ones I want aren't available. "something about being a non virgin being equal to being 'yucky' and similar to a 'used t'shirt' or something like that...." Ah-ha, yes, that was the one! Non-virgins were disgusting and "yucky." Good times.

in other news, all of you hardcore, (possibly non-christians by the looks of all of your posts) posters to this thread will appreciate that we had a baby dedication at my church on Sunday. Just before the babies came to the front to be dedicated, we sang Sweet Child O Mine (not the GNR version, but the Sheryl Crow version) but still.....my church is the coolest. you have to admit it. how many bible thumping fundie churches play that kind of music? I just love my church. and before you ask, YES, I AM a CHRISTIAN!

Sheryl Crow covered GnR? See, I wouldn't approve of that - babies, that is. Ha ha, no, seriously, I'd have to hear the song. Scandalous, isn't it? No bottled water, either. Get a room.

This thread could be just the thing I've been looking for. Lately I find that if I'm going to comment on anything at all in certain areas, it isn't one or two posts later that I'm either a) challenged on the basis of what I know, b) given a contrarian response (probably just for the sake of it) or c)completely ignored. That's not what I came to CW for. I can get that at any gearhead politico quasi-intellectual site where wisdom is found in the wordcount. So the question is whats next? Problem being, I like the idea of a christian forum. I like the idea of christian behaviour mixed in with any topic on the map. Shouldn't it be possible to have a circle of individuals getting along without constantly getting on each others' nerves or exalting themselves at the expense of others? That would be my rant... and my hihowyadoin'. Might bring along a squirrel or two eventually. We'll just see how it goes. =] Thanks for the invite, M. Today's word = curmudgeon.

I heard a girl version of Sweet Child Of Mine, but I didn't think it was Sheryl Crow. It was weird, we were at the mall one night (that happens a lot in the winter when it's cold and there's no place else to take your kids) and we kept hearing covers of 80's songs. Okay, maybe GNR was 90's...but we also heard covers of Venus and Rhythm of the Night.

Believe me, the GNR version is much, much better than the Sheryl version, but hey, just that we did any version is enough for me. We did a U2 song not too long ago, and it fit with the sermon very well. they usually don't have us singing songs for no reason at all, they usually go with the topic at hand, so they are very appropriate. nevertheless, it rocked. and i was going to say something about westend's post above, but I'm just not finished ignoring it yet. Worry not, I'll be giving an opposing viewpoint any day now.
